You shouldn’t have to learn about birth while you’re giving birth.

Pregnancy gives you months to prepare for a moment that can change in minutes.

UNDERSTAND YOUR OPTIONS

Uncertainty is easier to navigate when it isn't entirely unfamiliar.

Nobody can promise how your birth will go. You can arrive already knowing the questions worth asking.

A birth plan lists these scenarios.
It rarely explains them.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

These possibilities are common enough to appear on consent forms and birth-plan templates. But understanding what they actually mean, what they look like, why they happen, what choices you may have, and what matters to you if the plan changes, is something many patients are expected to figure out in real time.

CLARITY BEFORE THE DECISIONS GET HARD.

I know because I am usually there when real time runs out.

I am Dr. Shakkaura Kemet-Rosenwohl*, an OB/GYN and laborist. My clinical work begins when patients arrive at the hospital to give birth. I have spent thousands of hours caring for people during labor, performing cesarean deliveries, responding to obstetric emergencies, and sitting at the intersection between the birth someone imagined and the birth that is actually unfolding.

Again and again, I have watched patients encounter important decisions for the first time while exhausted, frightened, in pain, or being told that we need an answer now.

I created Virevelle because I began asking a simple question: what if we had this conversation earlier?

Dedicated time before labor, to understand the decisions that may arise during birth.

Not because every complication can be predicted, or will happen. Because uncertainty is easier to navigate when it isn’t entirely unfamiliar.

Understand the system.
Make choices that feel like yours.

Every session is shaped by time spent on Labor & Delivery - the decisions that come up there, and the questions worth asking before they do.

CLARITY BEFORE THE DECISIONS GET HARD.

Birth navigation sits beside your medical care, not in place of it.

Your obstetrician or midwife delivers your baby. We give you time beforehand: room to ask what a recommendation really means, what the alternatives are, and which parts are yours to decide - so you walk into your own appointments already knowing what to say.

Virevelle services are currently available only to clients physically located in California at the time of their session.

What this is

01

A private educational consultation with an obstetrician who works on labor and delivery.

02

Time to understand the decisions that may arise, and the trade offs underneath your preferences.

03

Questions you can take back to your own obstetrician or midwife.

What this is not

01

Not prenatal care, and not a replacement for your obstetrician, midwife or hospital team.

02

No diagnosis, prescriptions, testing, or direction of your pregnancy.

03

Not a promise about how your birth will go. Nobody can offer that.

Questions people actually ask. Answered plainly.

The short version of what this service is, what it is not, and how it sits next to the care you already have.

Is Virevelle prenatal care?

No. Virevelle does not replace your obstetrician, midwife, prenatal visits, hospital care, or any other member of your healthcare team. Birth Navigation is an educational and decision-preparation service. Your treating clinicians remain responsible for your medical care and for making individualized recommendations.

Are you my doctor?
Then why does it matter that you're an OB/GYN?
Will you make a birth plan for me?
Can you tell me whether I should have an induction or a cesarean?
What if I already have a doula?
Is this only for first-time parents?
What if I want an unmedicated birth?
What if I know I want an epidural and don't really have a birth plan?
How much does it cost? Will my insurance cover it?
Why does this need its own appointment?
